Counselling
Counselling is a talking therapy.
- It involves a trained counsellor listening to and helping you / your child find ways to deal with emotional issues.
- It is an opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings and to better understand how they impact mood, behaviours, and relationships.
- It offers a safe, confidential space to talk through whatever troubles or worries you / your child has with a qualified and experienced youth counsellor.
At WYC, we offer free, one-to-one counselling with a professional BACP registered counsellor or trainee counsellor for young people aged 11-25 who live in the Winchester District.
Counselling can help by:
- Giving you a better understanding of issues such as relationships, sexuality, stress, anxiety, and much more.
- Equipping you with strategies and tools to better tackle new experiences or challenges.
- Understand why you feel the way you feel.
- Learn how to manage challenging feelings and situations in an emotionally healthy way.

Supporting young people at school.
In addition to our counselling at our premises in central Winchester, we have trained counsellors at a number of secondary schools in the Winchester District who are able to support your child at school.
This support is accessed through our standard referral process.
If you need immediate support, there is more information here.
We do not charge for our services.
But, if you would like to make a donation we would be extremely grateful. Donations help us continue to provide free counselling and therapies.
