WYC Extends Thanks to the Winchester Half Marathon WYC Running Team

Winchester Youth Counselling (WYC) would like to extend its heartfelt thanks to the 12 amazing runners who took part in yesterday’s Winchester Half Marathon, raising vital funds to support local young people. Pounding their way on the historic streets of Winchester, these dedicated runners completed the challenging 13.1-mile course, all while raising awareness for WYC’s essential mental health services.

The commitment and determination shown by each of the 12 runners is truly inspiring. Their efforts not only helped raise funds but also highlighted the importance of providing free, confidential mental health support to young people aged 11 to 25 in the Winchester District. The funds raised will go directly towards helping WYC continue to offer counselling to young people who may be struggling with a range of issues, from anxiety and depression to school pressures and relationship challenges and the arranging of support groups and programmes for parents/carers.

In addition to thanking the runners, WYC would also like to extend its gratitude to everyone who supported or cheered on our runners during the race. Your encouragement was fully appreciated and will go a long way in making sure that young people in Winchester have the opportunity to talk to someone when they need it most.

WYC are happy to announce that, as of today, the runners have raised £2,620 between them and there is still time to donate.

WYC has been providing counselling and support for over two decades, and demand for our services continues to grow. The generosity of those who ran, along with their sponsors, will make a significant difference in ensuring that young people can access the support they need at crucial times in their lives.

Mental health remains a key concern for many young people, and events like the Winchester Half Marathon help to ensure that we can continue to provide our services to those who need them most, helping local young people navigate the challenges they face and building brighter futures for themselves.

While the race may have come to an end, the impact of the funds raised will be felt long into the future. Every donation helps to ensure that WYC can continue providing vital services.
