On 10th May 2024, the University of Winchester campus buzzed with excitement and tranquillity as students gathered for the highly anticipated Recharge Festival. Organised to provide a much-needed break during a hectic term, the event featured an array of activities designed to rejuvenate both mind and body.

The Recharge Festival offered students a variety of relaxing and engaging activities, all free of charge. Attendees indulged in soothing massages and immersive sound baths, perfect for alleviating the stress of academic pressures. Creative souls enjoyed crafting sessions, while others took part in carnival games that brought out their playful spirit. The festival also ensured that no one went hungry or thirsty, with a generous supply of free food and drinks available throughout the day.

Recharge Festival - WYC

Winchester Youth Counselling (WYC) was delighted to be part of this vibrant event. Our team set up a stall to engage with students, informing them about the wide range of services we offer, from 1-2-1 counselling sessions to Walk and Talk counselling. Focused on mental health and well-being, we aim to support young people through their academic journey and beyond.

The festival provided a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with students in a relaxed setting, allowing for meaningful conversations about mental health and the support systems available to them. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the University of Winchester Students’ Union (Winchester SU) for inviting us to participate in such a worthwhile event. A special mention goes to Megan from our youth board, whose enthusiasm and dedication were instrumental in making the day a success.

One of the highlights of the day was witnessing the positive impact of the festival on the students. Many expressed their gratitude for the event, noting how the activities helped them unwind and feel more connected with their peers. It was a testament to the importance of providing spaces where young people can recharge and take care of their mental health.

Winchester Youth Counselling remains committed to supporting the well-being of young people in our community. Events like the Recharge Festival are vital in promoting mental health awareness and ensuring students know where to turn when they need help. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Winchester SU and other local organisations to create more opportunities for engagement and support.
