New Article Childrens Mental Health Day 2025 Hero Ftr Img

Children’s Mental Health Week is here! Running from 3rd-9th February 2025, this year’s theme—“Know Yourself, Grow Yourself”—encourages young people to develop self-awareness as a key step in their personal growth and well-being.

At Winchester Youth Counselling, we know that understanding your emotions, strengths, and challenges is an important part of mental health. Our services are designed to support young people aged 11-25 in the Winchester district, giving them a safe space to talk, explore their feelings, and build resilience.

So, let’s explore why self-awareness is such a superpower and how we can all play a role in supporting young minds this week!

Why Self-Awareness is a Superpower 🦸

Understanding yourself—your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours—can allow you to:

Manage stress and emotions more effectively.
Build positive relationships by understanding your own needs and those of others.
Make healthy choices that align with your values and well-being.
Develop resilience to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.

This week, Place2Be’s resources help young people explore their emotions in creative and engaging ways. Whether through journaling, art, or discussions, these activities provide a valuable opportunity for self-reflection and growth. (place2be.org.uk)

How Winchester Youth Counselling Supports Young People’s Mental Health 💚

At Winchester Youth Counselling, we provide free, confidential support to young people aged 11-25 in the Winchester district. Our services are designed to help with issues like:

  • Anxiety & stress
  • Low mood & depression
  • Loneliness & isolation
  • Family or relationship difficulties
  • Self-esteem & confidence

Our mental health support includes:

🌿 One-to-One Counselling – A safe and private space to talk to a trained professional.
🚶‍♂️ Walk & Talk Therapy – Connecting with nature while exploring emotions.
🗣 Wellbeing Walk-In – No appointment needed, just drop in for a chat.
👨‍👩‍👦 Parent Consultations – Guidance for parents supporting their child’s mental health.

Additionally, our Resource Hub has some great suggestions for coping strategies, why not take a look here and try some out? The hub is available to be viewed at any time you’d like to and we hope you will find this useful.

We believe that no young person should struggle alone, whether you need someone to listen or guidance to navigate difficult emotions.

How You Can Get Involved

Want to make a difference this week? Here are some simple ways to support young minds during Children’s Mental Health Week 2025:

💬 Encourage Open Conversations – Ask young people how they’re feeling and really listen.
🎨 Get Creative – Use drawing, writing, or music as a way to express emotions.
🧘‍♂️ Promote Self-Care – Even small things like taking a mindful walk or journaling can help.
📢 Raise Awareness – Share resources and let others know that every young person’s voice matters.

At Winchester Youth Counselling, we believe that every young person deserves to be heard, understood, and supported—not just this week, but always. 💙
