This World Health Day, the message is simple but powerful: healthy beginnings lay the foundation for hopeful futures.

At Winchester Youth Counselling, we believe that health is not just about the physical — it’s about how we feel, think, and cope with the world around us. For young people navigating adolescence and early adulthood, mental health plays a vital role in shaping their confidence, relationships, and sense of identity.

Supporting emotional wellbeing early on can change the course of a young person’s life. Whether it’s learning to manage anxiety, building resilience, or having a safe space to talk through life’s challenges, early support matters — and that’s where we come in.

WYC offers free, confidential counselling and wellbeing services for 11 to 25-year-olds across the Winchester District. We provide a range of support options including:

  • One-to-one counselling — A safe, supportive space to explore feelings and challenges with a trained professional.
  • Walk and Talk and Nature Therapy — Offering a different way to connect and reflect in calming outdoor settings.
  • Wellbeing Walk-in sessions — Drop-in support for young people who need to talk without a waiting list.
  • Parent Support Groups — Recognising that carers and families need support too, especially when helping their children manage emotional difficulties.

World Health Day 2025 allows us to remember that health isn’t a one-time goal — it’s a journey. For young people, that the journey is full of transitions, and it’s okay to need help along the way.

We also want to break down the barriers that stop young people from reaching out — stigma, fear, or simply not knowing where to go. At WYC, you’ll be listened to without judgement, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, lonely, lost, or simply need someone to talk to.

This April, let’s keep the conversation going. Let’s talk about emotional health. Let’s invest in the wellbeing of our young people — because healthy beginnings can lead to brighter, more hopeful futures.
