Inviting the Elephant into the Room – The Climate Crisis, Mental Health and Us. What does it mean to be human in a time of collapse?
Winchester Youth Counselling is delighted to welcome the esteemed Climate Psychologist and author Steffi Bednarek to speak at the Winchester Science Centre Planetarium on the links between mental health and climate change. Join us for this talk that will take the audience through the key issues from a thought leader on the topic and consider how we can help ourselves and the young people around us to manage their climate anxiety in a changing world.
Doors will open from 5pm. Tickets include full access to the Science Centre to explore the exhibits before the event start. The talk will be followed by drinks and opportunity to meet Steffi and members of the WYC team. We will also be announcing the winners of our Nature Photography Competition at the event.

About the speaker:
Steffi is the founder and director of the Centre for Climate Psychology, a published writer, speaker and curator of learning experiences at the intersection between climate change, mental health and living systems thinking. With over 25 years of experience in systemic change and trauma therapy, she supports individuals and organisations to address the urgent need for regenerative change in ways that go beyond the mere correction of what is visible on the surface. Steffi’s work supports professionals across all sectors to stay resilient, adaptive, creative and responsive in the face of global upheaval and climate anxiety, whilst also increasing awareness of our systemic entanglement with the very culture we try to change.
