WYC Updates and News
We remained open throughout the Covid-19 lockdown and were able to successfully adapt to new ways of working by counselling over the phone and online. Now lockdown has eased, we are looking forward to seeing some of our clients face to face again and have been busy putting measures into place to ensure everyone remains as safe as possible. We are following government and public health guidance and have hygiene and infection control processes in place.
On 12th June, Trustees Sian Searles and Andrew Simpson organised an online fun quiz using Zoom. Congratulations to the winning Perrin family and to runners up the Wilsons. We would like to thank Quizmaster Charlotte Petter and all the participants for helping us to raise £431.33.
We would like to say a special thank you to Debbie Lockett and HSBC
Debbie won the HSBC Local Hero award in June for organising a daily delivery of hot meals for vulnerable people after lockdown started in March. Meals were provided by catering firm Red Radish and delivered by a team of volunteers. As the winner of HSBC Local Hero, Debbie was awarded £5000 to donate to her chosen charity. We are very pleased and grateful that Debbie nominated Winchester Youth Counselling as her chosen charity. A cheque was handed over to WYC trustees Nick Bell, Jill Guppy and Sian Searles on 15 July.
